Education for Physicians
Doctors go to school forever, not necessarily, but training requirements dictate at least 12 years of advanced education. The career of a physician requires advanced training and background experience, but the job is very rewarding. Doctors are expected to used a great deal of creativity and latitude in working with and treating patients. Doctors are also well compensated for their education and their services provided to patients. Doctors can work in a variety of healthcare settings in locations across the country.

Medical School. In order to begin a career as a physician, all must attend an accredited medical school. There are 125 accredited medical schools in the US that are represented by the AAMC (American Association of Medical Colleges). Students may not be able to receive certification if the medical school is not accredited. Admission into medical school is competitive, and requires a successful score on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). The MCAT is a complicated , four part examination that covers a broad range of science and medical topics, so it is important to prepare for the MCAT with a pre-medical undergraduate degree or similar such a biology or anatomy.
There are two ways that students can seek a career as a physician. The most prevalent path is the medical doctor or MD track. The other is Doctor of Osteopathy, or DO, which is very similar, but follows a slightly different approach to medicine. Both MD and DO degrees are accepted to begin advanced medical training.
Medical school takes four years to complete, with the first two years focusing on pre-clinical instruction, consisting of coursework and laboratory instruction. The final two years focus on clinical training where students work under the supervision of a hospital physician to gain hands on experience in a number of medical fields. Throughout medical school training, students take the United State Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) to show proficiency in medical practice. The USMLE is a three part exam, taken throughout medical training, which provides licensure upon completion.
Hospital Residency. In the final year of medical school, students apply for hospital residencies in a medical specialty. Each medical specialty has its own curriculum, and can take anywhere from three to eight years. Family practitioners take residency programs in family medicine, pediatricians take residency in internal medicine with additional training to become a pediatrician, and gynecologists and geriatricians take respective hospital residency training programs. The residency requirements of each type of physician varies depending on specialty, so it is important to know these specifications before starting educational training. Upon completion of residency, physicians are eligible for examination and licensure as required by respective medical specialty board. Hospitals residency programs are accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Fellowships. After completing a hospital residency and passing all board certification examinations, physicians are able to further advance their career and status by entering fellowship programs. There are fellowships available for many fields of medical practice. A fellowship places physicians with the most renowned physicians in a given field to provide extensive experience in the field. A fellowship may be a necessary course of training for certain specialties such as pediatrics or invasive cardiology.
If you are interested in becoming a physician, there is information available online about training for all medical specialties from Anesthesiology to Urology. It is important to know how long you must train in order to plan accordingly. There are many medical fields to choose from, all with their own unique methods and patient groups. The healthcare industry is ever growing and there will always be a need for qualified physicians.

Earn Your MBA Degree Online
Earning an MBA degree online is becoming easier and easier. Many colleges are offering partial and full on-line programs for people to earn their graduate school degrees. In the past people who wanted to earn an MBA had to stop working or switch to part-time employment in order to attend campus classes. But today earning an MBA has become much more convenient.

On and Off Campus
Campus programs have started expanding and offering degrees online. Schools that used to just offer on-campus programs are seeing the need for an expanded degree program. With on-line courses the colleges can deliver low cost, high quality education, to a wider student base.
School courses that are delivered in an on-line setting are just as educational as the on-campus classes. Many courses offer tele-class lessons or other virtual classroom venues. These school courses are usually packed to capacity because they have become so popular.
Each course is going to offer a unique way of learning for the students that take the class. Some courses will be easier to work through an on-line program than other courses will. Also, some students learn differently and will not be able to learn through an on-line course. Each student needs to evaluate their ability to stick with an on-line degree program before paying tuition fees.
New Types of Colleges
There are also colleges that mainly cater to the on-line student. This type of school may offer some community courses but most of their students take courses on-line. These types of schools offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate degree programs to their students.
Some programs can be completed entirely online, while other programs may require some occasional on-campus class work. Some popular degrees that are offered include bachelors of Education, psychology, business, education, and MBA graduate degrees.
Ten years ago the only way to earn an MBA was to try to squeeze classes in during the day or work all day and take night classes. But even then there were not very many programs that were able to accommodate working adults.
How They Compare
On-line college programs can be offered inexpensively compared to regular college tuition because the teacher can administer the course right from their desk. Even though the tuition is less expensive than a four-year university some low-income families may still not be able to afford to attend college…even if it is an online program.
To help make these types of programs an inexpensive alternative, most on-line universities offer the same federal student loans that other universities offer. These federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans and grants make an affordable online college degree a possibility for almost any family.
Online programs are definitely worth looking into if you are considering going back to school to get your degree. They are convenient and offer you the ability to earn your MBA while staying at your current job. Most programs are offered on a continuous basis which makes them even more convenient to enroll in.
The advantages of doing online degrees
There are many people who want to get college degrees and who do not have the possibility to attend a full-time program. They often choose online degrees instead, because distance learning degrees offer them the chance to study from home. Deciding among the many online degrees available, be they online bachelor’s degrees or online master’s degrees is quite tricky and before you make your choice you should know a few basic things about distance learning programs. Such programs are usually both flexible and interesting, with a broad range of courses available to choose from. Whether you are new to a certain field or have some knowledge of it but would like to learn more, such a program is certainly right for you.
Very popular among online degrees are college degrees in business, covering a wide range of subjects, from accounting and marketing to business management and leadership. Before you make up your mind among the many distance learning degrees available, you should first decide what exactly it is that you require from your planned studies. Both online bachelor’s degrees and online master’s degrees are available for those who wish to study from a distance and the online degrees that most appeal to you will be the ones that seem suitable to your goals. Whether you plan to become more efficient in your work or make a career change, distance learning is definitely an option for you.
People normally choose do to college degrees on the web, because they do not have the possibility to attend a full-time program. When browsing through the numerous offers of online degrees available, you should take into account several factors, the most important of which is your career goal when deciding to do such a degree. Distance learning degrees are meant to help people get familiar with a certain field. This can be of help in their current job, as holding a degree means, on the one hand, that promotions and raises are closer within reach and, on the other hand, that they will be more proficient in their work.
Another reason why people choose to attend distance learning programs is that they want to change careers. Making a radical career move asks for both courage and determination for people who have little if any knowledge in a certain field. Online degrees can be essential tools for those who want to change careers. If their planned change is a drastic one, they usually choose online bachelor’s degrees, which will help them get familiar with the basics of a certain field. If the change involves a rather subtle switch in a different area of the same field, people can go for online master’s degrees, which are very commonly chosen among other distance learning degrees.
A great advantage of online degrees is that the people who decide to take them can go on working at their regular job while studying and taking online examinations. Such college degrees are often sought after by people who want to take their careers to the next level. Once you have decided which of the distance learning degrees available would be suitable for you, going about the application procedures is quite easy. The most common acceptance requirement of distance learning programs is a high school diploma, especially for graduate programs. Acceptance is, in other cases, conditioned by your previous college or working experience.
The duration of distance learning programs can vary from individual to individual. If you have both the time to study and advanced knowledge in a certain field, you can go for short-term online degrees and finish your studies even in six month. Most distance learning degrees, however, are four-year programs, yet this is very convenient for people whose jobs take up a lot of their time. You can normally enroll in such programs, for both online bachelor’s degrees and online master’s degrees, all year round. Once you have completed your enrollment, you can download the courses and start studying straight away.
Online degrees have grown highly popular in recent times, because they are extremely convenient for people who want to both study and hold on to their current jobs. All distance learning degrees, including online bachelor’s degrees and online master’s degrees, are completed over the Internet, so the pursuers need not quit their current jobs or move to a different location while studying for their college degrees. Distance learning programs are highly flexible in terms of course work, while also providing for all your degree requirements. Whatever the degree you want to take, long distance learning is definitely a great option.

The primary factor that makes you choose a place to live is the opportunity it provides for your progressive growth. Economic factors and employment avenues are the two areas that linger in one’s mind when thinking of settling down at a place. After all, you cannot expect to live off mortgage money in an economy that refuses to grow and gives its people little choice in jobs and even little chance to prosper. The above-mentioned facts cannot change for better without a good education level of the social dwellers and their commitment to the education of the society. Education, after all is the true indicator of growth and economic performance.
Edmonton is a Canadian city that is definitely worth considering when thinking of places to spend the next few years. With a diverse and well-educated tax base, Edmonton is a great place to live when considering your prospects for finding and keeping a good job.
While having 46 percent of the population with a post- secondary education is indeed amazing, it is less so when you consider the fact that there are no fewer than 10 universities and colleges located within the Edmonton metropolitan area not including a number of technical institutes. This is why Edmonton is considered to have one of the best trained workforces in all of North America.
Two very noticeable educational facilities in Edmonton are University of Alberta and the Grant MacEwan College. And, Edmonton scores very high on both economic potential and quality of education. It has the potential to provide you and your family with a wealth of opportunities and a stable living environment.
The University of Texas
The University of Texas, with its flagship campus in Austin, is one of the original eight “Public Ivys,” according to Richard Moll. Moll coined the phrase in his 1985 book, Public Ivys: A Guide to America’s Best Public Undergraduate Colleges and Universities. The phrase has since come to include many more universities who offer an Ivy League education at a public university price.
UT earned such a distinction by providing a quality education for undergraduates since it opened its doors in 1883. As far back as 1839, the government of Texas set aside 40 acres of real estate in Austin for the purpose of starting a public university. They named the area College Hill. Construction did not begin until 1881, when Austin was officially made the main campus for the new university. By this time, Texas A&M had already beaten it to being the first university in Texas. Unfortunately, one of the most memorable points in the history of the University of Texas was when Charles Whitman barricaded himself and a rifle at the top of the Main Building Tower in 1966. He shot and killed 14 people.
Today, UT is one of the largest universities in the U.S. Enrollment reaches nearly 50,000 each year and the sprawling campus covers 350 acres near downtown Austin. Students and the public have access to seven museums and 17 libraries with over eight million volumes. Among its collections, the university owns one of only 21 copies of the Gutenberg Bible and the first photograph ever taken, created by Nicephore Niepce.
In terms of academics, UT consistently ranks very high. U.S. News and World Report ranks UT the 44th best university in the country and the 12th best public university. Many of its individual programs rank highly as well. For instance, the engineering school ranks in the top ten and the business school, fifth.
In athletics, UT also excels. Football is king in Texas and the UT Longhorns are consistently one of the best teams in the country. In 2005 won the NCAA national championship in Football. UT has also traditionally been successful in baseball, basketball, and swimming and diving. All large universities have their rivalries and for the Longhorns, its Texas A&M. The Longhorns and the Aggies have the third-longest running rivalry in the U.S.
In its long and distinguished history, UT has produced many successful graduates. Farrah Fawcett, Janis Joplin, Renee Zellweger, Roger Clemens, David Geffen, and many other famous people graduated from UT Austin.
The University of Texas along with the state capitol offers a steady economic base to the city of Austin that is able to stabilize Austin as other industries in Austin ebb and flow. For instance during the tech downturn in 2000/2001 which affected many cities in the United States part of the brunt of the economic downturn was mitigated by the employment base of University of Texas and the state capitol.
UT is an integral part of the city of Austin. Residents enjoy the atmosphere of prestigious athletics and academics that the school adds to their city.

Online Master‘s Degrees: Should You Consider It?
Want a better job? Often, the only way to advance your career is to go back to school. But “school“ doesn‘t have to mean a cramped classroom with uncomfortable desks anymore. Many professionals and other employees looking to improve their marketability are turning to online colleges – an innovative and exciting way to earn a Masters degree.
Professionals who have obtained Masters Degrees are typically more successful. This includes work that is more interesting and challenging, with greater growth potential and higher salary. An Online Masters Degree can really help if you want to fortify your credentials for a promotion within your current organization, or to move to a position of greater responsibility outside your current company. A Masters Degree can also help if you want to change careers. Getting a degree through an online college provides increased flexibility and convenience over a traditional program. Many even offer accelerated programs or flexible schedules for part-time graduate studies.
In comparison to traditional classroom-oriented degree programs, the process of obtaining a degree online holds many advantages. Online degree programs offer flexible hours and non-concrete classrooms. Individuals who don‘t live near a campus can now pursue their degree with less travel inconvenience. Flexibility is also helpful for those who may have been out of school for a period of time and are just getting back into the routine of academic demands. Any apprehensions may also be alleviated associated with needing to blend into a younger college atmosphere since this is not necessary.
Since students are able to enroll in evening and weekend courses, they are still able to maintain their set schedules and responsibilities. This allows those who have full-time jobs or families more convenient access to coursework. Online course availability allows them to work around the schedules they create which require their online presence.
Many online universities are accredited and offer a variety of programs of study. Some traditional universities supplement traditional classroom education with online courses, and some universities exist only online. Most contemporary institutions of higher learning have begun to offer a variety of online courses in order to remain competitive. Either option allows an individual to obtain an advanced degree in any of a variety of fields, including business, nursing, health care, management, IT, education, liberal arts, and many more.
If you want to go for a college degree, do not let the formidable costs of financing it be a worry. What you invest in education today will reap rich rewards in the future. Just look around and you will see that there are very few successful professionals who do not have advanced degrees. Graduate tuition is, no doubt, more difficult to finance than undergraduate tuition but there are a lot of student loans, grants, and scholarships that you may be eligible for. First decide what you want to do and then among colleges offering your chosen course, find out what is required to qualify for those grants. For example, some might need you to be a full-time student. Some companies even sponsor, partly or even wholly, the higher education tuition of their employee if they feel it would benefit the organization in the future, in terms of financial benefits or even goodwill.
Many people believe that Masters Degrees obtained from online universities are not as good as those obtained vie traditional classroom coursework, but that may be a faulty assumption. The best online programs offer similar opportunities for working within groups, development of interpersonal communication skills, and individual study. Self-motivation and self-discipline become more important, perhaps, when completing an online degree, but the necessary fine tuning of time management skills can become a great advantage. A high degree of comfort with the newest internet technologies can also be a great advantage to online learners. Obtaining a masters degree from an online university can be a valuable and convenient way to broaden your career opportunities.
